Now is one of the most recognized Canadian Chamber of Commerce advocacy initiatives, having helped elevate the importance of cybersecurity across the country to enhance Canada’s economic and national security. Since its inception in 2021, the Council has advocated for measures that increased the cyber resilience of Canada’s critical infrastructure, helped improve two-way information sharing between government and industry on cyber threats, supported investment in Canadian cybersecurity innovation, and drove attention to the need to boost the diversity and scale of Canada’s cyber talent pool. In a study of over 250 energy companies worldwide, oil and natural gas firms scored the highest— with the average company scoring a 94, or an "A"— while the lowest scores belonged to renewable energy companies, which scored a median of 85 (ranging from “B” to “C+”.) I've been experimenting with something I think is pretty cool in my spare time, and I put together a short video to showcase it. If you saw my BSides talk last year, you might remember my demo on exfiltrating data using ultrasonic sound. Well, things have escalated. Now, I can not only send commands to a victim machine using inaudible sound waves but also receive responses the same way. Getting two computers to communicate reliably this way has been a challenge—transmission stability, timing, and error correction were just a few hurdles to overcome.
